Join the Nassau County Medical Society and Nassau Academy of Medicine for our Fall Membership Meeting featuring keynote speaker Chethan Sathya, MD, MSc, FRCSC, FACS (BIO), a nationally recognized pediatric surgeon, educator, and advocate for violence prevention. Dr. Sathya will present “Healthcare's Role in Gun Violence Prevention,” exploring how healthcare professionals can contribute to prevention, advocacy, and community health while engaging in an important conversation on one of today's most pressing public health challenges.
The evening will also spotlight the acclaimed documentary All the Empty Rooms, which examines the far-reaching impact of gun violence on individuals, families, healthcare professionals, and communities. Following the keynote presentation, attendees will have the unique opportunity to participate in a live Q&A with the film's director, Joshua Seftel, and Dr. Sathya, offering additional insight into the documentary's creation, themes, and relevance to today's public health landscape.
