OUR MISSION
As the Nassau Academy of Medicine evolves we aim to preserve the Academy’s original purpose. We will continue to “diffuse among people knowledge of the achievements of scientific medicine” through the “educational opportunities and training of a postgraduate nature for members of the medical profession in Nassau County.” Moving forward, we aspire to not only provide educational opportunities but also ensure access to virtual and/or in-person events that offer free CME credits to all members. In essence, we will administer the means to better serve patients and deliver a higher quality of care through advancing the medical education of all levels of physicians in Nassau County. By establishing and maintaining an online database of medical journals and publications of our members, we look to showcase their accomplishments and light the path of greatness for all future physicians. Furthermore, we strive to serve as a resource and offer unconditional support to our members through every step of their journey in the medical field.

A MESSAGE FROM OUR PRESIDENT, SUSAN ZWANGER, MD
Dear Members of the Nassau Academy of Medicine,
I hope this letter finds you all in good health and high spirits as we embark on a new chapter together. It is with great honor and excitement that I write to you as the newly appointed President of the Nassau Academy of Medicine. I am humbled by the opportunity to serve such a distinguished and dedicated community of healthcare professionals.
I am thrilled to announce the launch of our much-anticipated Fellowship Program. This program aims to provide a platform for our members to further share their expertise, collaborate with peers, and contribute to cutting-edge advancements in their respective fields. Through this program, we aspire to foster a culture of continuous learning and professional growth, enabling our members to excel in their practice and make a lasting impact on patient care.
In addition to our Fellowship Program, I am delighted to inform you that our Education Programs will continue to thrive under the guidance of our esteemed education committee, chaired by Dr. Bernadette Riley. We remain committed to providing high-quality educational opportunities that cater to the evolving needs of our members. Through workshops, seminars, and conferences, we aim to equip you with the knowledge and skills necessary to navigate the ever-changing landscape of medicine successfully.
Furthermore, I am proud to share that the Nassau Academy of Medicine will be continuing with our “Pride in the Profession Scholarship." This scholarship aims to support aspiring medical students who demonstrate not only academic excellence but also a genuine passion for serving their communities. By nurturing the next generation of healthcare professionals, we contribute to the future of medicine and ensure a legacy of compassionate care.
In our continued commitment to fostering strong ties within our community, we have established an affiliate program with our local high schools. This program will provide opportunities for mentorship, career guidance, and hands-on experiences to aspiring young minds interested in pursuing a career in healthcare. By nurturing their curiosity and passion, we hope to inspire and shape the healthcare leaders of tomorrow.
Last but certainly not least, our dedication to community outreach remains unwavering. We understand the importance of giving back and supporting those in need. Through various initiatives and partnerships with local organizations, we aim to make a positive impact on the health and well-being of our community. Together, we can create lasting change and improve the lives of those we serve.
